Art Park Nikola-Lenivets announces an international competition for the best concept of an art object for Maslenitsa 2022. Artists, architects, designers, directors, programmers and all creative people are invited to participate without restrictions. The winner will receive a grant of 100 thousand rubles to implement his idea. The deadline for applications is June 6.

Shrovetide in Nikola-Lenivets is not just a folk holiday with pancakes and the burning of a Maslenitsa effigy. It is always a one-day performance that ends with a spectacular big bonfire. Especially for him, a piece of art has been collected for several months, which is destined to disappear in just a couple of hours.
This is exactly how, according to the team of the art park, real art should look like - it is not stored in a museum under glass, but appears for a short time, so that afterwards it will forever remain in the memory of everyone who saw it.

To participate in the competition, you must fill out the form at the link before June 6, 2021.
This year, a 2-stage system for accepting competitive works is being introduced.

At the first stage, until June 6 inclusive, everyone who wants to apply and register. At the second stage, they will have an on-line installation seminar, where the Nikola-Lenivets team will speak out all the details of the technical task. Everyone who will take part in the seminar will be able to submit competitive projects until July 18 inclusive.

The winner will be announced on July 26th. Shrovetide in Nikola-Lenivets will be held on March 5, 2022.
Materials for the object
It is important for us that the project uses only those materials that burn well and are either production waste or secondary raw materials.

We usually use:

• old wooden pallets that must be sent from factories for recycling are ideal for
• the inner pipe of the object, which immediately catches the fire;
• thin meter - 6-meter ends of conifers, unsuitable for use on a sawmill, thin
• diameter (less than 200 mm). Suitable for constructing the frame of an object;
• straw bales - low quality straw, unsuitable for animal feed. When burning, it gives sparks, heat and smoke;
• wooden construction waste is the main combustion material, thanks to which the fire burns for a long time and beautifully

Budget
The total budget for the construction of the project should not exceed 1 million rubles. Authors should offer the optimal ratio of spent funds to entertainment and relevance of the finished project.

Winner's fee - 100,000 rubles (including personal income tax), double accommodation for the required time to participate in the work on the project. Additional costs (transport and meals) are not included.
Important

If you need to come to Nikola-Lenivets to participate in the competition, talk to the builders, write to us, we will offer you a discount on accommodation. Please consider the work schedule. If you win the project, you must participate in key points in the development and construction of the project. You cannot publish ideas submitted to the competition before the official results are published. If the results of the competition are recognized by the organizers as unsuccessful, then a new facility will be built on an out-of-competition basis for Maslenitsa.
